Violet Palmer has been an NBA ref since 1997. No problems.
Know what else - she's gay. I didn't even know until I referenced the link. No hoopla - just good work which she is respected for. Others should take note.

She worked the Ravens-Eagles game as a linesman... seemed pretty invisible, which is what she is supposed to do. She didn't get a mention on TV, I just happen to notice her.

It was very interesting. And historic. She was on the crew for the Cardinals-Chiefs game last week. Also on the field.... Dr. Jen Welter (Called Dr. J by the Cardinals players) the first female coach in the NFL.
Sarah Thomas made a call that head coach Bruce Arians didn't like. He got in her face and let her know what he thought. BA, who is known for his.... ummm..... colorful..... language, lit into her. When asked how she handled it BA said, basically, just fine.

Good for her! She can be just as capable and effective as a male referee.
The only thing I would be concerned about is safety. Understanding that male referees are also susceptible to being 'run' over by one of the players and can be injured; because a woman's bone mass is not as strong as a man's she has a much higher probability of serious injury.

A whole lot of time I believe, other words not in either of our life times. Token players don't really count as playing with the boys.
What I want to see are men allowed to play women sports.

Why would she be noticed as long as she did her job?

... see Michael Sam...
He got out of focus by focusing on being the first.... He should have just taken lessons from this young lady. Just focus on doing your job.

First off you have to have NFL level of talent to be noticed. He obviously didn't even have enough talent to play in Canada....

Maybe... maybe not... look, there are undrafted people in the NFL. Dave Krieg played QB for 17 years and was undrafted.
Sam had divided interests. Whoever was his agent, or whomever handled his time commitments - failed him miserably - even though I understand he has the final say - but he, like most other men in the early 20's, doesn't know any better. Professional athletes that have appeared on Dancing With the Stars, did so after they retired - not before even playing a down in the NFL.
With a good focused effort, the results could have been different - like it is for this referee.
There are plenty of other threads, on Sam - this is about the female ref - so that's my last comment on him, since I brought him into this.
