Eli looked good! He had a nice day and got some protection from two rookie O linemen which helped the run game.New GM all ready dumping the cancer in the locker room.
You have to remember, Gettlemen is a Yankee from Massachusetts working as a GM in the south....he has a Northeast mentality and that didn't always play well with some in the Panthers organization with thinner skin. He is all business.
I can definitely believe there is some truth to this. But who knows what really happened?
Am I the only one super happy they cut RT Bobby Hart yesterday? Considering how well the O-line held up today, the new GM has already improved the team in that one move...Ha.

absolutely and he has already said Eli and ODB will be back.

There were multiple reports of this (see recent archived article of Brandon Jacobs commenting on the situation..)
Also, the charlotte observer reported that Gettlemen was going to be tough w/negotiating final contracts of Thomas David and Greg Olsen....reports are those guys went straight to Jerry Richardson...

Dave Gettleman just got named GM. Not a bad hire. Good with the cap and willing to make unpopular decisions but not good with player relationships.

Gettleman will have to make unpopular decisions in order to return the Giants to a level of competition. Moving on from Eli Manning and potentially other members will be among those decisions.

Agree, but to be a top notch GM you have to make unpopular decisions every once in a while.....perfect example was Steve Smith. He was a love/hate guy, but he had to be cut loose. It was a decision that ultimately helped the Panthers go to the super bowl. So many people hated it because they saw a new GM (who wasn't a southerner) come in and let go a long term veteran....so, people pile on Gettlemen because he's an easy target.
A team like the Patriots make those decisions all the time...you have to ask yourself do you want to field a winner and run it like a business, or is this about loyalty and overpaying like I can see it coming with T Davis and Olsen.....if you overpay those guys, it takes away from good talent you wont be able to get.
I am pissed that Jerry let him go and dont want a return of Marty Hurney ball....

The next interesting thing is who will be the HC for Giants now? Josh McDaniels will boost the Offense, so far the perfect fit for Giants IMHO
