NFC good teams: Dallas, Green Bay, New York, Atlanta, Seattle
AFC had some potential, but Carr went down
You can just look at the playoffs. Every good game was on the NFC side.
Makes no since. New York and Seattle were very average teams that got blown out in the playoffs. Oakland was good, but was easily swept by KC. Carr is nearly elite but he needs to figure out how to beat defenses like the Chiefs if Oakland is ever to be a true contender.
NY lost that game because they fell apart after the dropped passes. Had their guys caught passes, they'd be up 17-0 in the first. Would they have won? Maybe, maybe not, but it'd be a close game at least. Seattle was a good team that couldn't stop a historic Atlanta offense. I don't see why we should take Oakland and KC seriously because of the regular season but discount Seattle who beat New England on the road. Sure Seattle underperformed compared to what we're used to, but they were still a good team who had a decent shot to go all the way.

There's always "could have, should have". 38-13 says otherwise. As for Seattle, they went 1-2-1 vs the Cardinals and Rams. That's why they lost their first round bye. Seattle was flawed, it was probably their worst team since 2011. I feel like when the playoffs started, Atlanta and New England were so far ahead of everyone else it hardly mattered who made it through.
This Superbowl is between the two best teams in the NFL, no question.

Reasons for declining nfl tv ratings
1. Way too much national tv coverage----Thursday Night, Sunday and Monday Nights, Saturday games at the end of the year, Sunday morning games from London----too much
2. Lot of those tv games are just not great football.
3. some of the related concussion coverage and the nfls response to it.
4. some negative stories on off the field violence---I don't think this is a huge factor
The main problem, as I see it, is the watered down product----the quality of nfl play has faded. Maybe a development league is not a bad idea.

That's the thing, NYG couldn't play a full 60 minutes, and that's why they weren't true contenders to me.
KC-PIT was classic, low-scoring playoff football. Packers-Giants was just a high scoring rout.
They couldn't play a full 60 minutes because their defense was on the field the whole time (after their first few drives). That's what happens when you don't get a rest. In the 2nd half, their drives lasted for 2:36, 0:45, 1:03, 0:48, 0:48, 2:27. Total of 8:27 of possession in the 2nd half.

Sounds like a terrible football game. Blowout and one team couldn't do anything with the ball. At least the Cheifs/Steelers game was close and decided on a late third down conversion.
