Patriots will roll the Falcons, even without Gronk.

(After my vote, the voting is Falcons 10 - Patriots 7)

The Falcons just have too many offensive weapons. Yes Julio Jones is a beast but if NE focuses on him then ATL will win with their other weapons. Matt Ryan's poise and calm and nerves is one intangible - it's his first trip to the Super Bowl. Remember Cam Newton last year? But I think Ryan and the coaching staff are taking a good look at that. Against the ATL offense, the NE defense is vulnerable, against the run and the pass.

On defense the Falcons are very strong. The Patriots are not that strong. Tom Brady, who IMHO is the greatest QB of all time, has done a great job with that offense of merely pretty good players. But it is a team game and the Falcons' D does not have any glaring weaknesses.

But, Brady and Belichick is another intangible in this game. With Brady's skill and experience coupled with Belichick's coaching genius, they can easily discover weaknesses to exploit.

So there are two major intangibles, Matt Ryan, and the combination of Brady & Belichick. But I predict a 39-20 win by the Falcons.
Difference between Atlanta this year and Carolina last is they truly didn't have anyone that had been there before. One of the underrated things about Atlanta is Dan Quinn has coached in 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls to include this one. Belichick is getting the love he deserves but no one is mentioning Quinn who's defense did its job against Brady in SB49 and we all know why Seattle lost that game.

Except for the 4th quarter when they allowed the Patriots to score 14 points, including the game winning touchdown.

Tom Brady is still great, I'm just saying Seattle had all the tools to win that game. Quinn's defense had 2 ints, 1 sack and 7 QB hits in that game. If Atlanta can come anywhere near close that kind of performance they will win.

Except the Falcons defense should never even be mentioned in the same breath as that Seattle defense...

Atlanta is one of the weakest defenses to make it to a SB, they will be exposed on Sunday.....

Pats have a defense, Atlanta doesn't....

Fans here favor Atlanta. The experts seem to be favoring the Pats by a 3-2 ration from what I can discern. This may be a good game and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens. The paper says to pick the Pats, but I just have a funny feeling Atlanta is going to pull it off.

Falcons 31, Patriots 27.

Enjoy, everyone!

I haven't read about or seen any experts say Atlanta's defense lacked talent as it did for years. All they are saying is its young. The thing about being young is growing up and this defense has grown up since the bye week. I'll let you believe that "Atlanta has no D" crap and watch as the Pats are sitting with only 1 score at halftime.

That's a very good point. And though I know there's a lot of folks who don't put a lot of faith in fate and providence, there's still several emotional things working in Atlanta's favor:

1. The city is long overdue for a Lombardi Trophy and is currently flying high in so many other areas (job growth, culture, media presence and national prominence)
2. The final season in the Georgia Dome
3. The first season in Mercedes-Benz Stadium
4. An offense playing on all 6 cylinders

You really couldn't write a more dramatic script for an Atlanta victory. The momentum is definitely in their favor.

Look at what the Patriot defense did to Antonio Brown when they faced the Steelers a few weeks ago. It was a joke. Suffice it to to say that NE will soundly defeat the up and coming Falcons this Sunday.

New England - 34
Atlanta - 27

Great news for the Falcons then, because Vegas has been wrong as of late. They've had the wrong team the last 5 years. Remember in 08 when they had the Pats as 12 point favorites? That was brilliant. Also note the Pats are 1-4 against the spread in their last 5 super bowls.

bet odd history

Thanks, but I really don't need your permission to believe what the FACTS tell me is true....Atlanta Falcon's defense ranked 25th in a league of 32 teams....they gave up 406 points compared to the Pats 250....

Yep they "grew up" after the bye....played exactly ONE team with a winning record and a decent defense after the bye during the regular season and LOST to that team....

Played Seattle without their defensive leader in the secondary and then faced a team in GB that had an even worse defense than their own...

I just worry Brady may get tired out going up and down the field all night long against that sorry defense...he is getting up there in years
