Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is joining Fox as an NFL broadcaster, according to a report from NFL.com.
Cutler will be working with Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis. If a quarterback opening develops during the season, Cutler could take it without leaving the broadcast team shorthanded, according to the report.
Uhhhh? I mean he is not a great football player, but he doesn't exactly have a glowing personality either. At least with Rex Ryan I understood why, even though he wasn't a great coach, he'd be a good commentator.
I really just dislike this dude, lol. I may be blinded by it and correct me if I'm wrong.
Burkhardt says Cutler is going to be the real deal. He could be carrying the water for FOX but maybe he'll be a better color guy than quarterback.

Who knows? Could be that we're all underestimating Cutler. It's easy to judge the guy based on QB skills, or in perceived lack of social skills. Let's hope he surprises us all with excellent analyst skills.
I loved Cutler as a QB. So he's not a media darling like Manning or Brady, & is rather apathetic. Who cares? I find Cutler to be refreshing.
We'll see how sharp his memory & wit are though after the hits he's taken. He was given some of the worst offensive lines I've seen in football. He was left for dead out there for many seasons.
Deadspin wrote it best - "Yes, please. Jay Cutler in the booth is something I now need in my life."

I don't have anything against Cutler, but he never struck me as having much of a personality, and never seemed like someone who wanted to talk much either. That said, maybe he will be very enlightening--but I wouldn't have hired him if I was in the position to do so.

Sounds like training wheels for him. A three man crew just to ease him in and see how he does as a color commentator.
