Really?

Because I started this in '06 and it was just a generic question.

I don't know about more threads like this one, but I DO see more threads involving L.A., specifically.

Given that a city like Green Bay, which gives the lie to the concept of market size, can not only thrive but compete for the championship, I think that the NFL should make the ultimate 'good weather' move and put a team in Honolulu.

Honolulu probably would not work. Too much travel for the East Coast teams and the time difference would be such that televising the games from there live would be impractical. I agree with the good weather part though. Honolulu has a great year-round climate. Perfect for the annual Pro-Bowl.

Earlier today, I heard a story on the Commish trying to have an east coast facility for a team in London, England....

I don't think travel means much, either.

The problem with a lot of cities in the plains states is there simply are not enough upper income residents in these cities to support an NFL team. The two driving factors that determine the viability of putting an NFL team in a particular city are the overall population of a given metropolitan area and the percentage of that populace that are middle and upper income wage earners. By middle and upper income wage earners I mean people that make $75,000 a year or more. It takes about $200 to $300 a game minimum to take a family of four to an NFL game.

How many cities are like Green Bay out there were for one the team is more or less owned by the people living in the city? Two, were there are enough people to consistently buy 50,000 to 60,000 seasons tickets a year? Also the Packers draw from all over the State of Wisconsin.

And you could say precisely the same thing for Honolulu. Plus, there are a lot more tourists in Hawaii during the football season than there are in Green Bay. That would account for ticket sales, as well.

Honolulu is kind of far, if you were an east coast going to Honolulu or vice versa it would be a long haul.
