Edwin Jackson, who was on injured reserve all year, was killed when a drunk driver swerved and hit him while standing on the side of the road. He was 26.

Oh my goodness, I'm just seeing this now. What a terrible shame. Apparently the person who killed them was here illegally. Condolences his family, friends and the Colts.

The immigration thing aside, this sucks. Edwin was doing the right thing and taking a safe way home and to go out like that after doing the right thing is just awful. The Uber driver just trying to make a living didn’t deserve this either. I drive Lyft occasionally myself and while it is decent money, a fact is that I’m putting myself at higher risk of something happening, be it a drunk driver or a shooting, being on the road after midnight. Just sucks in Edwin’s and the drivers case it cost them their lives.

Yes, it's sadly ironic that making the safe move cost him his life.
If the US federal govt was doing its constitutionally mandated job, Edwin Jackson would be alive today.
