This was just breaking news on a sports radio program I was listening to.
I'm a Bay Area native, and lifelong 49ers and Raiders fan. 'The Catch' was one of the highlights of my 'life as a fan/fandom'. You will be missed by many of us who don't know you, but who are big fans. 'The Catch' will live forever in 49ers lore .
One of my doctors while I was growing up had been a Division 1 lineman who played in a major bowl game on the winning side. He was diagnosed with ALS (in his early 60s, IIRC), and died from it in his late 60s.
RIP. Was great to hear the support from many former teammates who granted his wish that they all get together one last time at Clark’s Montana residence. “The Catch” is one of sports’ most iconic plays ever and top four or so of the past half century, perhaps #1.
Will always remember "The Catch" in the 49ers playoff game against Dallas (Jan. 10, 1982). I was a 21 year old college student then, watching the game in San Jose with some friends. Think we all had at least a couple extra beers to celebrate that play and the 49ers win.
It was great that 30 former 49ers players were able to visit him in Montana in April!

With any disease that is fatal, once you are diagnosed, any time you get after is borrowed time. RIP Dwight Clark. I was one who thought the ice bucket challenge a few years ago was absolutely stupid but one thing that I loved about it was the money raised for ALS research. Hopefully that research can save other lives from ALS.

And from what I understand, Eddie D was instrumental re making that happen.
He was an owner who loved those players, and they loved playing for him .
