Wondering who would get Mack, and it appears it will be the Bears. As much as I'm glad to hear he will suit up at Soldier Field, I am definitely scratching my head over this acquisition, for a couple of reasons:
1) They have two top 10 picks at LB already, Leonard Floyd in 2016 (from UGA) and the newly signed Roquan Smith (also UGA) who has not even played a game yet. So the LB position in Chicago currently is occupied by the first pick of the 2016 and 2017 draft, and both were Top 10 selections.
2) The Bears gave up picks to move up one spot and get Trubisky last year.
It was rumored that Oakland wanted two Number 1's for Mack, and no way did the Bears give that up. I'm guessing that Smith or Floyd is on the way to Oakland, and who knows how many draft picks are gone with them. The legendary LB's of the Bears are back!
It's hard to argue with the acquisition of one of the true game changers in the league. But as the OP said it's not a huge need and at a huge cost both in picks and cap space.
I searched for this thread and it didn't come up on my search, I wanted to post it there.
Yep, I get it. Some things are difficult to find on C-D. I couldn't find where these team threads were for a while, either!
DAAAAA Bears is in the ***Official NFL Team Thread List*** shown at the top of this Pro Football Forum, on a STICKY:
That Raiders defense is going to be bad this year.
Do you say this because of the way Mack and the rest of the Raiders have owned the Broncos for the last couple of seasons and because Mack specifically had been throwing Broncos' quarterbacks to the ground like rag dolls?
In any case, when evaluating the guy, throw everything you saw him do against the Broncos out the window because their oLine has been high school level for the last few years.
