Very cool 60 Minutes piece on American Somoa. An island of 65k residents has 30 players in the NFL and 100+ in NCAA Div 1.

I saw it as well, good article. Kinda hoped that they would make mention of Jack Thompson of the Cincinnati Bengals. His nickname was "The Throwin' Samoan." I don't know if he was the first NFL player from American Samoa, but he was one of the first anyway. His son later turned out to be a tight end for Washington State University, and his nephew Tavita Pritchard, according to Wikipedia, is one of the quarterbacks for Stanford.
