The media assumed the Colts were going to win the Superbowl so much so that they started asking the Colts players and coaches if they felt disappointed they didn't start their players in the final 2 games of the regular season because the Colts would not have a chance at a perfect season. The implication was such that it was assumed the Colts would win and thus the media's focus was on the lack of a perfect season for the Colts instead of focusing on the game itself. Winning the Superbowl is the goal and that is an enormous challenge yet it was assumed winning the Superbowl isn't enough of a challenge for the Colts. I don't blame the Colts at all but I blame the media in not giving the Saints a chance.

I understand that some teams will be overwhelming favorites but this Saints team was respectable and had a chance to beat the Colts. This wasn't the Chargers versus the 49ers in 1995. I hope the media particularly guys like Tony Dungy take responsibility for their comments and admit they were wrong

Dungy was the coach of the Colts and considering he knows the players well,he assumed they would easily win.Every year people make predictions so I don't know why you are offended by it.Even when teams are evenly matched, people will claim a blowout by one team. That being said,i'm thrilled the Saints won and i'm probably one of the only people on the forum who picked them before the playoffs started to go all the way.

I'm not a big fan of either team but I am happy for the SAINTS and New Orleans, it's been a long time coming...the trophy and the hype.

I don't think any criticism is necessary. The Colts made it to the superbowl and had played well enough leading up to it that it seemed very possible they would win, and if they did, the only thing that would have kept them from having a "perfect" season would have been laying down at the end of the regular season.

They have 2 weeks to talk about useless crap. If anyone is to blame, it is fans for eating up 2 weeks of useless crap that the media reports year in and year out leading up to the game. So I don't take any issue with them talking about the Colts only losing in the regular season because they laid down and thus not having any chance at a perfect record had they won the superbowl.

The OP is 100% correct. You have thought Manning was the only QB playing in the superbowl. As far as Dungy goes, I am waiting for him to get called out by someone in his media circle.

The main critism I have is that the game consist of one play followed by five commercials too often. As far as the team they deserved to be there and it was a great game with two of if not the best qaurterbacks and defenses in football;to say nothing of the overall teams.

The media loves to pick a favorite, and then the bandwagon begins. Dallas was the early darling in the playoffs . . . until they lost. Then Minnesota and the Jets were the favorites to upset Indy and the Saints. Bottom line, anyone can beat anyone on a given day.

the east coast media, esp ESPN, loves Favre, Manning, Romo in that order...there are no other QB's if you listen to them. They really got scorched this time around
