If he was guilty,I agree to get rid of him but you DEFINITELY DO NOT need an elite QB to win a superbowl. Was Trent Dilfer an elite QB? Obviously not. It just helps to have a better one.
I should have said WE, the Steelers seem to only make alotta noise when they have great QB. As much as Ben is on everybody's **** list right now, my opinion is that without him (if it happens), I think it will be a long season. That said, I don't care. Some things are more important than football, even to a Steeler fan. Namely justice and class and integrity. I was a big supporter of his, and I'm usually one to be able to separate the athlete from the "human being", but I have a nagging feeling that I will have a rough time cheering for him now. Again, I know he hasn't even been charged let along convicted, but if I had to bet I'd bet against his innocence.

I agree--it will be a long season if we were to trade Ben. But like you said--some things are more important than a winning season--justice, class and integrity. The latter 2 were always synomynous with the Steeler organization. Holmes, Reed and Roethlisberger have ruined that!
I won't have a hard time NOT cheering for him because I never was a big Ben supporter. If you look back at my posts I have said in the past that he is inconsistent as a QB. Yes, he did bring 2 championships to Pittsburgh, but it wasn't just him--it was 10 other players on the field with him! I've seen Ben in action in this town alone--I see how arrogant he acts when out...so not a big fan here.

Oh another quick Ben story....
My nephew was out one night and saw Ben at Dave & Busters down at the Waterfront. He had a crowd around him and was signing autographs. My nephew was wearing his Willie Parker jersey and did not want Ben to sign that. So he pulls out a dollar bill and asks Ben to autograph it. Guess what Ben said????
"It's illegal for me to sign money" and he refused to sign it. I told my nephew "next time look at him and say it's also illegal to buy alcohol for underaged kids, but you do it anyways" and then walk away!!!
Why was ben suspended for 4 games when both women lied ? He was not charged with anything. The suspension is a bit xtreme. Is the nfl (as usual) making a example out of ben ?
Heres the 2010 steeler schedule. The first Pre-season game is at home vs detroit on 8-14 (less then 3 months away). The first regular season game is at home vs atlanta on 9-12 (less then 4 months away). We have already waited almost 5 months (since last steelers game). Lets hope we have a good yr & ben keeps his nose clean. I hope losing parker & holmes dont come back to bite the steelers in the ass. Whats the deal with jeff reed ? Heres the 2010 schedule. If Ben gets traded will the Steeler fall pretty heavily
Of course. Despite being a knuckle-dragging idiot, Ben is a damn good QB and the Steelers don't have anyone on their roster who could even come close to playing to that level.

Unfortunately you are right. It always seems to be that way with problem childs. At least we have pretty solid backups.

It's not about "no charges filed" --it's all about integrity and the way he portrays himself off the field. He has cast an ugly light on the Steeler organization, the city of Pittsburgh and the NFL. He IS a role model and he needs to portray himself as just that!!
I support Ben Roethlisberger's suspension because he single-handedly damaged the brand equity of one of the NFL's flagship franchises.
I also support keeping him on the team because a) character issues were never a concern until recently, and b) franchise QBs don't grow on trees.
Exactly!
