The list price on this sleek, cordless drill is high - about $360.00, although it can be purchased for about two-thirds of that price online. The drill is worth the extra money for three reasons: it has full torque at any speed; while the motor may get hot under duress, it doesn't overheat easily; and the battery lasts a long time because of Panasonic's inverter charger technology.

In addition, this model has a heavy-duty keyless chuck, 18-stage clutch, 2-speed gearbox, an electric brake and a quick-charging system. A full charge takes only 55 minutes, but there is also a 5-minute emergency charge that will bring the battery up to 15% of its capacity.

The drill weighs 4.8 pounds, and delivers 390 in. lbs. of torque. The gearbox has two variable speeds. Low is 65 to 450 rpm, and high is from 200-1450 rpm. The drill has an ergonomic design to help reduce fatigue. There are built-in cooling fans to prevent motor burnout. The drill's balanced design ensures ease of use by both left-handed and right-handed users. The handle has a rubber surface for a sure, comfortable grip. The forward/reverse switch is ideally placed so that changing bits can be done easily on the fly. The keyless chuck works well even with small drill bits. It has shown no problem gripping even the 1/64" size bit. The drill has precise controls for speed, start and stop.

The Ni-MH battery will last at least a full day and maybe more, even with heavy use. In case you forget to recharge, an additional battery comes in the kit. The clutch system delivers the right amount of torque for each particular application, ensuring control and accuracy. While some drills have more power, this one is less cumbersome and is plenty strong with 15.6 volts and 3.5 amps. Its compact size allows you to use it in tight spaces. There is a bit holder at the base of the drill where the battery attaches, and its placement reduces the chance of losing a spare bit. Plus, this drill just feels good in your hand.

Although many other drills have a short lifespan, this quality drill will last for years. The price point may be a bit too much for casual users, but for anyone who depends on their drill for their livelihood, or who is tired of being caught on a ladder with a dying battery, this is a fantastic investment.
