Brinkmann 30 qt. Turkey Fryer MFG Model # : 815-4001-S

Rating: 4 out of 5

My family wanted to have a different type of turkey. This time they wanted to try a fried turkey. Knowing that I would only use this machine once or twice each year, I decided to shop for a less expensive model. I went to my favorite store, The Home Depot, and found several turkey fryers for sale. I looked at what they had to offer and chose the Brinkmann 30 quart turkey fryer. This is a plain Jane model and I paid about sixty dollars for it. The one thing that I didn't care for was you had to light it manually. It is big enough for a large or small turkey, and it can also be used to deep fry fresh fish.

It came with a turkey stand with a hook and a 12 inch deep fry thermometer which is convenient for the person doing the cooking. The main safety feature is the temperature sensor that will shut off the gas flow to prevent it from overheating and possibly starting a fire. We found that we had to sit and watch it while it cooked. We did this for safety reasons.

We read all the instructions before using it, and we cooked our turkey according to the directions given. It was not quite done, so we let it cook for another thirty minutes. At that point is was ready to be served. We took the turkey out and placed it on the platter and took it inside to enjoy. Before we left the fryer, we made sure that the gas flow was off, and placed extra sand on the ground around the fryer just in case. I must admit we were nervous at first to use a turkey fryer, especially after watching some of the stories about the fryers catching on fire. I do recommend this fryer to those who want to have their turkey cooked in a different way.
