Lennox Elite 11, 3 ton AC unit HS29-036

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

This central air unit has been a good investment for us. It does a good job of cooling the house down quickly when we first turn it on and also does a good job of removing the humidity from the air, which is an issue in our part of the country.

The exterior finish of the unit is unobtrusive alongside of our home and the enamel finish has remained free of corrosion even through extreme temperature changes and high humidity. We have found the unit to be virtually maintenance free. We change our interior filters regularly and usually hose down the unit once a year before using it to wash out any debris that might have collected.

The unit runs very quietly. You hardly notice that it is running, even when you are outside and are standing near that side of the house. We hadn't thought about that issue when purchasing, since this was our first time to purchase a central air unit. After hearing the noise that some units make, we were very glad for our quiet Lennox.

We had this air conditioning unit installed several years after building our home. The contractor had no issues attaching it to our existing forced air ductwork. The electrician provided the wiring to a new programmable thermostat which now controls both heat and cooling.

The unit does also come with Lennox's ten year warranty on the compressor itself and a five year warranty on parts. We have not had to make use of this but it was a good selling point to us when we bought it.

We didn't find much difference in price between similar 3 ton air conditioning units, so it was more the name and the recommendation of the installer which created our choice for this unit.
