Bosch GEX1251AE Random Orbit Sander*

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

When you are as messy as me with DIY, one of the most crucial tools in the kit bag is the sander.* So many of my jobs are uneven, rough to the touch and badly need a smoothing off, which only a sander can provide.* I opted for the GEX1251AE Random Orbit Sander by Bosch and thus far it has come up trumps.* It is a fairly safe option when you purchase any of Bosch's tools as their name, quite rightly, sits along side the very best in the industry.*
This particular model offers fatigue free sanding on a technically advanced design, in any position.* There are 3 soft grip surfaces with variable grip positions to suit and pre selector for speed control to give best results to any given material.* The results are spectacular and allows me - who really is a novice - to produce some pretty good stuff.*
A sanding plate prevents damage to the work piece, leaving no scoring at all and a perfectly even finish.* The random orbit motion, together with normal rotation ensures that a high sanding performance is executed every time it's in operation.* It also has a very efficient dust extraction unit, which I found very useful, as my asthma condition does very often get caught out in these working environments.*
This Bosch sander has a micro filter system which comes with it, plus a rather nifty looking* carry case.* It has velcro type fastenings to assist in quick and safe sanding sheet changes.* Safety is obviously an issue, and I have to say this product has all that is necessary in place to prevent accidents, although in my hands anything could happen!* *
I have always been a fan of Makita power tools and their 9911 model has a lot going for it, but the Bosch Random Orbit sander - at $72 more than $20 cheaper than Makita -*gets my vote on this occasion.*
