Coleman Red Canyon 17-Foot by 10-Foot 8-Person Modified Dome Tent

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

My family and I camp almost every weekend during the summer and needed a new tent this year. After having poor luck with tents ripping and zippers breaking we chose a brand we trust. The Coleman Red Canyon 17-Foot by 10-Foot 8-Person Modified Dome Tent has weathered a long summer and fall of hard camping with three energetic kids. I really love the option to put up privacy screens to make three separate "rooms." My kids have a bedroom and a playroom and my husband I get to have a little privacy. The price was very competitive for a quality tent at just over $100. While, this model does not have all of the bells and whistles a more expensive tent might have, it keeps the rain out and seems to be very durable. My husband loves the six foot height in the middle allowing most adults to stand up in the tent. Of course, the height does make it a little tricky to get the rain flap on after the tent is set up. We ended up using camping chairs to stand on to get the rain flap on. The first time we set up the tent it took a little time and figuring out, but after a couple of times it became very fast. I would recommend you not try to put it up without two people. All of the polls are color coded and instructions are sown into the poles bag so you will never lose them. I am not sure if this would be the best tent to use during colder or windier weather. I also had to get used to the size of this tent. It is really big and in some campgrounds it can be hard to find flat spaces big enough to accommodate this tent. All in all a pretty great tent for the price.
