Kenmore 76081 Window Air Conditioner

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

I had little experience with window air conditioners when I bought the Kenmore 76081 unit. It is rated for about 400 square feet of cooling, which is about half of the space I needed to cool.

I built a workshop that is 20' s 20' and is two stories. On the top floor, I have an office where I had an opening framed for the dimensions of the Kenmore unit. My thinking was that the unit would furnish conditioning for both floors because cool air goes downward. It has worked very well whether I close the door to the downstairs or not.

The remote control feature is great because I can turn it on from my desk when I need it, and the 12-hour delay timer lets me set it to come on before I get to the office on the real hot days here in the South. I have been impressed with the quietness of the air conditioner too, because it was just as the salesman had told me.

Even though this appliance was made specifically for my building, it seems as though it was. I would buy this model again if I needed a replacement tomorrow. Some people might not agree on how quiet this Kenmore is, but any appliance of this type will make some noise, and I even think the low whirring noise is comforting while I work.

The Kenmore is competitively priced with a sticker price of $229.99, and you won't find a better product for the money in my book. It is Energy Star-rated to be efficient to use and has a 7,800 BTU output. I recommend this product highly because it does what it is advertised to do and because it is a great value. I give it my highest rating for a window air conditioner.
