Delonghi EC270 Espresso Espresso Machine

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

I recently purchased the DeLonghi EC270 Pump Espresso & Cappuccino machine for home use. This is a really nice machine for the price and in comparison to others within the same price range. It is capable of making two cups at a time and is very easy to use. As far as I know, it only comes in black and stainless steel. The size of this espresso machine is 12 x 8 ½ x 12 4/5 and it comes with a one-year warranty. It weighs 14 pounds - heavy enough that it won't easily move around on the counter when in use but light enough to move location. If you like espresso, cappuccino, and a latte it is capable of making all of these with ease. Cost ranges from $125.00 to $150.00.

I am impressed with the functioning of this espresso machine. It makes tasty espresso, has a separate thermostat for the water and for the steam, and there are 15 bars of pressure so that you get great froth. The water reservoir, drip tray and cup are removable which makes cleaning those parts easy. It also is capable of using pre-ground coffee or espresso pods. There is a coffee warmer on the top for keeping the first cup warm while making the second. It is sleek and stylish and blends in well with your décor. It is very quick to warm up and heat the water. It makes excellent froth very quickly. Most of the main parts that are used to make espresso or cappuccino are removable therefore I would say that it is fairly easy to clean. The water reservoir can hold 35 ounces which is a good amount for making many cups of espresso or cappuccino. The reservoir is also removable for ease of cleaning and filling. It is easy to see how much water is in the reservoir by viewing the water level indicator. The stainless steel boiler is healthier than most other espresso machines that have an aluminum boiler.

Some people have found that they need to replace the water reservoir on occasion but they also state that a new reservoir is inexpensive, is easy to find and replace. When it needs servicing, it is sent away which means that you will be without an espresso machine for a few weeks.

Overall, I rate this machine at four stars as it is easy to use, easy to clean and makes good espresso and cappuccino. There are only a few negative issues that tend to be common to the lower end espresso machines.
