I have this coffee maker in the black color, and every day I have been making coffee for about the past month. When I was first looking for a machine, I could not decide between the 10 cup version with the thermal carafe, and the 12 cup version which has the glass carafe and warming plate. What I wanted was a product that consumed less electricity, so I obviously ended up purchasing the version with the thermal carafe. The benefot of going with the thermal carafe is that the taste of the coffee is not changed from the first cup to the last when you have it up to a couple hours later. In the end I decided to purchase the 10 cup version because it was the same price as the 12-cup glass carafe version with a warming plate - around $80.

After a month of use there are pros and cons. Some of the pros are that it's easy to use, has a charcoal water filter, and has an auto-brew timer. It beeps to tell you it's ready for you to drink, and coffee seems to stay fresh for about four hours. The thermal carafe saves electricity because there is no need for a warming plate, and you can use both paper and metal / gold filters in the unit.

There are also some cons. First off the beep can be annoying. It keeps beeping four or five times, not just once. That can drive you crazy. Some people say, also, that pouring from the thermal carafe can be difficult. The coffee has to go through lots of twists and turns to get out, and that's why it stays warm. But it's not like a heating plate that can burn your coffee, so that con is canceled out.

Long story short is that this is a nice machine for making 10-cups of coffee. The thermal carafe is a real feature, and if that's what you're looking for this version is a good deal for the price. I almost forgot to mention that this makes an excellent cup of coffee, which is definitely the reason in and of itself to purchase the machine.
