I bought this air conditioner mainly because of the price. It was cheap.
The 5000 BTU's do a good job of cooling the small bedroom this is located in. The unit is compact. It doesn't stick into the room too much. It also doesn't stick out the window so much that it requires any extra support from the outside. Unlike many larger window air conditioners, this one can be lifted and installed by a single person.
There is a "Fan" option that allows air in from outside without engaging the cooling mechanism. This should be a nice option for cooler nights, except that the fan is about as powerful as a small desk fan.
There are other drawbacks to buying an inexpensive air conditioner. The construction and materials used are very low quality. It's not quite rickety enough to be "flimsy", but the plastic casing would easily break if dropped from even a few feet in height. The fold-out plastic, fan-like panels on the sides, intended to seal the air conditioner into the window are fragile plastic and had torn within three month of ownership. For me this wasn't a huge problem because they were no where near wide enough to block the air from my average-sized window anyway.
The attachment pieces provided with the unit to fasten the air conditioner into the window frame are useless unless the window frame is perfectly flat and made of wood, so that the screws can be attached.
Perhaps because of the massive inefficiency caused by the loose fitting in the window and the lack of suitable fastenings, my electric bill rose dramatically after using this air conditioner for a very small amount of time. It would be worth spending more on a better air conditioner with workable sealing mechanisms to avoid paying some of the huge energy bill.
