Marcy Recumbent Mag Cycle
Rating: 5 out of 5
I bought this bike for my husband when he hurt his shoulder and wasn't able to use our upright (treadmill and elliptical machine) workout equipment. The main reason I purchased this particular model is because of the price. Honestly, I didn't think we would be using it for very long, and so simply wanted something that would provide a workout without killing in the price department.
I am more than pleased with my purchase. This machine really turned out to be a great buy and something we now use every day.
Putting it together was a little difficult because it required a tool that we did not have and was not included in the packaging. Once it was together, though, it worked beautifully. Though fairly light, it is quite sturdy, with only a slight jiggle in one of the fastenings of the backrest. It's not enough to impact the performance of the machine. It's very comfortable to sit in and doesn't cause any sort of strain or awkward pulling, which is a real issue for machines requiring the user to sit. My husband had no trouble keeping his balance in the seat while using the machine, even without the use of one arm.
The experience I had with exercise bikes up to then was with a decades-old machine with a large strap providing the adjustable tension on the wheel. Coming from the experience, I cannot tell you what a delightful shock it was to find the magnetic resistance of this machine absolutely flawlessly smooth. The harder resistance settings are great for my husband, who is very fit. The lighter ones are great for me. There is a real difference among all eight levels, which is not always the case with inexpensive fitness equipment.
The seat and pedals adjust to comfortably fit both of us. It's very quiet while running, much quieter than our treadmill and elliptical. The display panel is useful and easy to read, with a handy log to compare workouts and track progress.
This is all together a great machine, even if it was much more expensive. The fact that it's so cheap is just a fantastic bonus.
