For the billiard fanatic in your family, there's really no name more associated with the game than Brunswick. Since 1845, Brunswick has been making quality billiard tables and accessories for the serious gamer. One of the less-expensive models, but still quite a value at around $2400, is the sleek and luxurious Danbury Contender. Made from superior wood material with selected veneered hardwoods, and finished in an attractive traditional cherry wood or chestnut, this 7-foot billiards table show the mark of a true professional, and is perfect for just about any room's decor. The Danbury Contender can be ordered in several styles, with traditional ball and claw, Queen Anne's or Ram's heads legs. These lovely legs are assembled using high-torque bolted construction, and state-of-the-art heavy gauge steel fastening systems for solid performance. The covering cloth comes in a variety of colors, from forest green to metallic platinum to midnight blue, with a choice of woolen or stainless material.

From the leather fringe and tassel pockets to the Camphor burl inlays, the Danbury table is designed to be a focal point of any game room. Every Brunswick table made is another tribute to excellence in design, workmanship and quality. Brunswick also stands behind every table that carries its name, so you can be assured of a lifetime guarantee and warranty.

Not all billiard tables are created equal, as we found out by doing nothing more than sitting on the edge of it, just to see if we could hear any creaks. Total silence. There's no question this table has been built to last, and rugged craftsmanship means you can lean against it for a difficult shot and not have visions of crashing to the floor. The stainless option is available for the cloth, but you'll pay approximately $300.00 more for this added luxury, so you might want to consider how important that is. If you have little children around that like to eat and drink near the table, for example, the added investment might not be a bad idea. The rail-sights, though pearl-white and standing out quite well against the cherry wood finish, could perhaps be a bit larger for those with not the best eyesight. The hanging fringe from the pockets can also be a bit of a problem if you have curious animals around the house.

For these few inconveniences, the Danbury Contender still more than makes up for them with the sleek design. The legs of the table can be sculpted one of three ways: in traditional ball and claw form, (for the true animal lover), the classy ram's head, featuring a circling horn pattern on the sides, and the smooth, featureless Queen Anne style. The Danbury comes in two sizes, 7-foot and 8-foot. The 8-foot size will cost approximately $2600, so you'll want to consider where your table will go, and how it will fit. Overall, the Danbury Contender from Brunswick is a superior billiards table, with a lot of high marks in style and class, and certain to make heads turn. It's perfect for the entire family - or the professional billiards player trying to get better at their game.
