Britax Frontier 85 Harness-2-Booster Car Seat

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

You can find less expensive car seats than the Britax brand, but we bought ours because of the ads and reviews we read about the product. These are some of the most thoroughly tested child booster seats. The Frontier 85 was designed for weights up to 85 pounds, which means our son can use it for a longer time than some of the other car seat models we considered.

My wife likes the seat because there are 10 different height adjustments for the harness, so she always has one that works for the size of the child in the seat. We can adjust the harness without taking it apart to do it, so as our son grows we can adapt the car seat without him having to get out of the seat to do so.

The advertisements said that this seat has a lower center of gravity making it much safer in the event of an accident, and we noticed that our son does sit lower and more naturally.

The harness is designed for more comfort to the chest in case of a sudden lurch forward. It's not too complicated to fasten the harness after you get used to it. I think all the car seats have a tendency to over design the fasteners.

We have not had to put the car seat through the full test, thank goodness, but there have been some times when a sudden stop caused the restraint to do its job and keep our baby safe. It has worked well at those times and we feel the seat is doing what it was built to do.

This Britax comes with armrests and cup holders on both sides so our son feels quite at home and comfortable in the seat. I can see no reason why we wouldn't purchase this car seat over again if we had the choice. It would be nice if the price was a little lower, but the peace of mind we have knowing our child is safe is the most important benefit.
