Dyson DC14 All-Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Rating: 3 out of 5
I have about half wood and half carpet in my home. I bought this Dyson because I've been dissatisfied with vacuums that end up pushing dust all over the wood floors rather than picking it up. This vacuum isn't as bad as some but, for wood floors, is just mediocre.
Dyson's big thing seems to be that their vacuums never loose suction. Having used one for several months now, I can say that their claim seems to be correct. On the carpeted parts of the house, it really works pretty well. I cleans very well and seems to pick up a huge amount of dirt. In my entire house was carpet, I could recommend this product entirely.
However, it is not as good on wood floors. It picks up a lot of dust but also pushes dust from the outtake vent.
Many of the features of the vacuum are useless for me. I don't have stairs, so the ridiculously long hose does me no good. However, I do appreciate the ridiculously long cord. It saves a tremendous amount of aggravation when it doesn't need to be unplugged, dragged to another room, and plugged in again.
I like the attachments, but attachments aren't something I use every time I vacuum. They are a nice features but aren't anything I couldn't get in a more modestly priced vacuum. It's also very heavy. If I had more than one floor to clean, I would probably give up before I got to the second level.
This machine is not worth the money paid for it. Though a lot of attention is paid to the HEPA filter, I have noticed no difference in the air quality. Though it does clean well, there isn't anything about it that requires such a high price tag. It's average in almost every way.
