Our previous oven/range unit developed a problem with one of the stove burners and rather than fixing it, we opted to buy a new unit due to the age of our existing model.
We had a GE range, which had done an adequate job for twelve years, but my wife had wanted a dual oven for some time, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to upgrade.
We picked a black oven over the stainless steel to save $100. We didn't really want to go with white appliances, so black was the obvious choice. Considering we were getting two separate ovens, the $1,649 price didn't seem so steep.
The sealed cook top on this unit is easy to keep clean. You must clean the cook top with non-abrasive cleaners to keep from scratching the surface, which hasn't been a problem so far. Spills that bake on the surface can be difficult to remove.
The controls take a little time to get used to because of the dual ovens, and you have to be careful not to operate the wrong one when you are in a hurry. The glass in the oven doors is larger than what we had in the older range, and it is much easier to see the progress inside.
Being able to cook at two different temperatures at the same time has made a big difference in planning meals for family holidays and get-togethers. My wife has been pleased with the cooking control she has, but the location of the ovens presents some inconvenience because you can't see into the lower oven that well from a standing position.
The hidden bake elements make the inside easier to clean when you want to wipe out the ovens and the steam cleaner does quite well for most cleanings.
If we had been able to remodel the kitchen when we changed appliances, we would have probably gone with a built-in dual oven and a separate cook top. While this oven performs well, we aren't crazy about the color choices available. For the woman who cooks frequently, this is a very good appliance selection except for the viewing limitation of the lower oven unit.
