We bought this dehumidifier for our small shed in order for my husband to work comfortably during the summer months. We knew that it was a smaller unit and didn't expect it to be suitable for a large room or for extended periods of time. However, this really didn't live up to even our modest expectations.
First of all, it didn't help him to feel more comfortable at all. The shed is understandably hotter and more humid than it typically is outdoors, simply because it's a small enclosed area. We thought that the dehumidifier would help to reduce some of that, but he reported that walking out of the shed into the humid outdoors was a relief, as the dehumidifier provided absolutely no relief for him at all.
Second of all, it doesn't collect hardly any water. He ran it a few hours a day for several days in a row and it didn't even accumulate an inch of moisture during one of the most humid days Chicago has seen. This of course explains why he didn't receive any relief from it whatsoever.
Another issue that sold us on this product was that it's supposed to be quiet. While that's not completely essential, my husband wanted to have a bit of peace and quiet while working in the shed. However, this unit was extremely loud - loud enough in fact that we could hear it running from across the yard.
We bought this unit because it is very portable. While this is certainly true, portability is only useful if you have a unit that actually works. He continued to run it, despite his better judgment, for a few months, only to have it complete shut done. One day he plugged it in, turned it on, and it made a fizzling noise and never turned again. This is definitely not a dehumidifier we would recommend.
