Force Ten Helium 100 Outdoor Tent

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

I have just returned from a 3 month jaunt across Northern Europe and have to say that the $300 I forked out for my outdoor tent, was certainly money well spent.* I decided on a Force Ten shelter, following some positive feedback I received and the product I settled on was their Helium 100 single person tent.* I needed something lightweight, easy to pitch up, sturdy and secure, waterproof and ventilated; and my choice provided all this and more besides.*
For travelling with, the product came with little stuffsac, making it easy to pack and go.* The poles are pre angled making them extremely rigid, by adding stiffness to the structure.* Its polyester breathable inner and mesh door panel are a great addition, indeed the 2010 version has increased ventilation when required, which is a lovely option.*
Other new features for 2010 include: increased head height, and pole sleeve tension adjustment.* The Helium 100 also has a unique internal bracing system which guarantees that the tent withstands all weather situations that mother nature can throw at it - fortunately I never experienced hurricane force winds or monsoon type cloudbursts, which would probably have proved a little tricky!*
Another extra which proved very handy over my period away was the inner tent pockets, which ensured all my everyday necessities were on hand and neatly stored.* Additionally, my purchase came with a repair kit, which as luck would have it, I never needed to unpack, but its availability was quite a reassurance throughout the trip.*
Although I travelled with 2 companions, it can be quite daunting; but having a comfortable and reliable 'home' to set up at each different location we turned up in, gave me enormous piece of mind.*
Aztec and Robens were other manufacturers who I considered and price wise they were in the same bracket, but I do not believe I could have improved on my Helium 100, it is a fabulous product.*
