I have never needed a soldering iron until last year when I was having trouble with a few connections that came loose in my heater. I purchased this soldering iron completely for the price. I wanted something that was inexpensive since I would probably only use it once or twice. The Sinometer 60 watt soldering iron is a great little soldering iron that gets the job done. It is very inexpensive and works well.
This soldering iron has a replaceable tip, but it seems to last pretty well, so it would likely take a lot of heavy use to wear out the tip. It heats up quickly and the packaging says that it can reach temperatures of up to 860 degrees. While I don't know how hot mine gets, I do know that it always works well and that I have never had trouble fusing things together.
One drawback to this soldering iron is that it stays hot for a very long time after using it. This could be especially disastrous for those with children or pets. I try to keep mine out of the way and to watch it while it cools off, although it can take almost 20 or 30 minutes to fully cool down. It comes with a little holder, but it is poorly made and not very effective. I recommend watching the soldering iron whenever it is plugged in and even while it is cooling off.
I wish it had a safety feature or cover to use around children to prevent accidental burns. I also wish the stand was higher quality, although I did not expect these features at this price.
For an inexpensive soldering iron, you can't go wrong with the Sinometer 60 watt soldering iron. It is a great value for the price and very effective. It is small and convenient to store and heats up quickly.
