Makita Mac2400 Big Bore 2.5 HP Air Compressor
Rating: 5 out of 5
The Makita MAC2400 Big Bore Air Compressor is a large air compressor made by a leader in quality tools. For the individual who needs a large capacity air compressor, this is an ideal choice. It has some built-in features that really put it ahead of the competition and it comes with a more attractive price tag than other brands. I have a farm that requires me to have air available to air up flats whenever the unexpected happens. It's important to have a tool that is powerful enough to depend on.
The compressor is super quiet in spite of its power but the motor only uses 12.3 amps to operate and it has a lower 1720 RPM rating that means it saves on energy. It also features a heavy duty intake air filter system that is better than any of the rest. It provides 4.2 CFM@ 90PSI so it takes care of the biggest jobs in no time. There is also a lever handled ball valve drain system that gets rid of condensation build-up in the tank.
Heat dissipation isn't a problem either with the finned discharge tubing. It increases the heat dissipation while it reduces moisture in the lines. It also has a cast iron cylinder that reduces wear so the air compressor pump will last a long time. One of the most important features for me is the 4.2 gallon air tank size. A lot of air compressors are limited to 1 gallon with the larger models providing two to three gallons. That makes it easier for me when I need to use it a lot during busy times with some of the farm equipment.
The air compressor is also really convenient because it can be used as a stationary or portable device. It is a heavy piece of equipment but that is due to the steel construction unlike many other brands of air compressors. It has a handle that is in the center to make it more convenient to carry.
Although this air compressor is not in the lower price range, it is also of a lot higher quality than those that are and has more features than others that are available for a similar price. If you only use an air compressor occasionally, you may be happy with a lower quality choice that is less expensive. However, the Makita Big Bore is the only choice for others like me who rely on the quality and repeated performance of an air compressor.
