The 2007 Scion TC was my first solo vehicle purchase. I bought it for its sleek design and mid-range price tag. I love it and still have it. It has great fuel efficiency, is very reliable and has had no major mechanical problems in the almost 4 years that I have owned it. I purchased it brand new from the dealer.
There have been a few minor problems that potential buyers might want to be aware of. My gas cap failed about 3 years after purchasing this vehicle. This caused the check engine light to come on. While it was a quick fix, I had to spend quite a bit of money on getting diagnostics done for a relatively inexpensive problem. When I talked to the dealer they said that a new gas cap had been designed, making it sound like others have had problems with this same type of failure.
The tires for this vehicle are rather expensive and I have had to replace them quite frequently. Also the brake light has developed a short and will flicker on and off constantly, although this doesn't impact performance at all.
Tall passengers and drivers do have a little trouble in this vehicle. My husband is about 6 foot and hits his head on the roof every time he drives or rides in the car.
Over than that, this car is an absolute delight. It has quite a bit of power especially for a car with a 4 cylinder engine. For a car in this price range, it is highly equipped. Mine has a built in iPod jack that I adore. It allows you to hook up an iPod in the center console and then to control it using the stereo. I love the iPod is hidden and that I can just leave it and forget about it. The fabric in the interior is long lasting and very easy to clean. With a quick vacuum it still looks like new, even after 4 years.
The 2007 Scion TC is a great and reliable vehicle. I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for an affordable car with a little power.
