Since I am still a novice in the realm of culinary arts, I was looking for a functional mixer that would demonstrate a high level of performance at a budget price. So far, within the past five months of ownership, this Hamilton Beach model has more than suited my requirements.

The mixer offers six speed settings and a 225 watt motor, making it more than competent when faced with most common kitchen tasks. It also features an option that is unique to the Hamilton Beach brand. Known as the QuickBurst, this feature allows an extra bit of power to be delivered with the simple touch of a button. This is an excellent added functionality for especially tough situations. The mixer includes both flat-bladed and wire beaters, as well as a wire whisk, which is perfect for creating smooth whipped cream. All of the aforementioned mixer attachments are dishwasher safe and easily cleaned, adding to the convenience level of this particular mixer.

The mixer features a flat base which allows it to stand up for easy stowage within a kitchen cabinet. Additionally, the cord wraps around the unit, allowing for easy, tangle-free storage capabilities.

With an MSRP of $39.99, the blender is at the low-end of the price continuum for mixers. However, from personal experience, Hamilton Beach has proven to be a trustworthy brand and I wanted a very basic tool. Even so, the addition of features such as the QuickBurst setting make it comparable to other more expensive models.

In closing however, it should be noted that it is best suited for items of thinner consistencies such as creams. Although I have occasionally used it to mix heavier compounds such as bread dough, such heavy-duty tasks would be more easily completed with a stand mixer.
