The 450-watt blender by Black & Decker offers a few fancy features not found on other blenders. This blender is one of few in its class that offers a glass pitcher and costs less than $30. The glass pitcher not only extends the life of the blender but also is also heat resistant. Users can mix hot liquids and solids in the pitcher and not worry about the pitcher shattering. The 42-ounce jar has the capacity to hold a variety of different food and drink items.
Te blender has 10 settings to take care of any blending and mixing needs. There is also an option for an extra blast with the pulse button. The blender does a great job of crushing ice for beverages. The pulse button also does a great job of adding an extra kick to chop, mix, and blend items to perfection. The width of the glass jar and the blades are a perfect pair. Many blenders of this kind have a wide jar with small blades. This is a problem with whole foods because if the jar is much wider than the pitcher, some food does not make it through the blades. This blender's pitcher and the blade are proportionate, so everything that goes in solid comes out chopped and mixed to perfection.
The blender also has a fast clean mode for internal cleaning. The user can add water, a few drops of dishwashing liquid and the blender is clean in seconds. The blender is also dishwasher safe, so the user has two options for cleaning.
The function keys on the blender are a little confusing at first. For example, the grate, and blend function use the same key. The 10-function blender uses 5 buttons to handle 10 functions. This is not a major problem, but if the user is not paying close attention, they may over-process the contents inside the blender. As long as the user reads the clear instructions, no problems with the keys should occur. Another minor drawback is that the plastic cap on the top of the blender lid does not allow you to pull the entire lid off by grasping the cap. The user must pull the top off using the lid instead of the cap.
This is a great buy for the price. There are a few minor issues, but this is still a great blender. The blender is easy to use and safe for users. With proper care, the blender can last a long time.
