The endearing Mini Cooper has an outline that few other cars can capture. It's iconic really. Most people, if they are not car aficionados, are able to identify this roadway rarity. The sleek style and attractive finish really allows this car to stand out in a crowded compact field. Nevertheless, there are a few problems with this vehicle that may turn off a number of potential owners.
The interior of the Mini Cooper is equally impressive to look at with high end upholstery and a dashboard that is unlike any other I have seen. The super huge speedometer looks almost cartoonish but is at the same time very likeable and really makes the car that much more fun. Some people may be turned off by this dial being mounted dead center in the display but I found this to be a nice flourish.
However, while the front two seats are very plush and roomy, surprising considering this little car is designed for up to five passengers plus cargo, this comes at the expense of a terribly claustrophobic backseat. Passengers typically have their knees pressed into their chest.
This is accented by a terribly bumpy ride. While it is a very zippy car and certainly shows its European heritage, I can't imagine what it would feel like to drive over a cobblestone street in some old European city. Driving over the smooth surfaces of American suburbia is enough. The ride feels like a safari sometimes from the amount of jostling done.
Still, the pep and handling of this vehicle does make it a very attractive city car that many urban dwellers can appreciate it. It's great for parallel parking and while storage space is limited it can still haul groceries well enough.
