2005 Toyota Camry LE

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

This is the first Toyota Camry we have owned and would not hesitate to buy another one when the time comes to replace it.

This is our main vehicle and is used for daily driving to work and around town but we have also driven it on long road trips. It is very roomy for a mid-sized car and the seats are very comfortable both in the front and the back. The drivers seat can be adjusted for tilt as well as sliding forward or back. The lumbar support in the seat can also be adjusted to suit the driver's needs. The motorized controls for the drivers seat are conveniently located along the left side of the seat.

As for storage, the trunk in this car is huge. It is both deep and wide with ample room for many suitcases or a full day's shopping packages. Inside the car you have a center storage consul that has a large compartment that I keep my music CD's in and then a smaller compartment contained within the lid of the larger compartment that is perfect for pens, sunglasses and other small items. It has hard plastic pockets built into the interior of the doors the can hold maps, notebooks and other narrow items.

There are two cup holders in the front center consul and two more cup holders in the fold-down center armrest in the backseat. There have been times where I wished there were a cup holder built into the passenger side front door, like some other vehicles have, but overall the beverage holders are adequate.

Mechanically, the car has been extremely reliable. No major repairs or concerns. We live in Minnesota, which has very cold winters. Even in below zero weather we have had no trouble starting the car after sitting several hours in the cold. It also handles well on the road in all kinds of weather. The heating system seems a little uneven. It does a great job on defrosting the windows but doesn't seem to get as much heat towards the floor on the drivers side.

The gas mileage is one thing that we wish was a little better. We only get about 30 miles per gallon on the road when taking longer trips.

Overall it has been an excellent vehicle to own.
