This is an attractive, high-performance dishwasher that features excellent energy conservation. The controls are hidden on the inside top of the door, so that the face of the appliance presents a solid stainless steel panel with an elegant handle. Perhaps the most remarkable feature of this dishwasher is the virtually silent operation. Dishes can be washed during a dinner party and no one will even know that the machine is on. In fact, there is an LED light at the bottom of the unit that illuminates the floor to indicate that the unit is running. Without that light, it would be necessary to open the door to see if dishwasher is in use.
This model features an array of wash cycles, from a power scrub to a quick wash. There is also an automatic setting, which detects the amount of food soil on the dishes and sets the wash cycle accordingly. A delicate wash is appropriate for silverware and other heirloom items although, as the manual says, some things are best hand washed. 'Glass care' runs the cycle at a reduced temperature in order to prevent an etched or cloudy appearance on fine glassware. It's possible to delay any wash cycle for up to 24 hours.
Various inserts are available, from special cutlery racks to containers for small items. For areas that have 'hard' water, the dishwasher comes with a built-in water softening system, consisting of a container for special softening salts. Complete drying is achieved with a drying agent, for which there is a special compartment. The machine can be operated with lower-temperature water or without the addition of drying agent, with the only downside being that the total operation time will last longer.
The default factory setting means that the appliance beeps when the wash cycle has completed. This feature can be easily deactivated, but it requires following the instructions in the manual.
It's important to clean the stainless steel with an appropriate cleanser. Using a cleaning pad that is too coarse will result in scratches on the surface that cannot be remedied.
The filter cylinder is easy to remove and should be checked periodically to ensure that nothing is blocking the filters. Standing water in the well of the filter is an indication that there is blockage that needs tending to.
The suggested retail price of this model is $2,099, however there are other dishwashers in this series that are less expensive. They have fewer features, but the essentials are still there: the elegance, the energy efficiency, and the near silent operation.

Bosch has updated their line of dishwashers and just released them. Lower price points and the 800 series starts at 899. I just ordered one and love the third tray for silverware.
