The MSRP on the GMC120D shredder is $499.99, but you can probably find it discounted at several office supply stores. Our chief accountant bought two of these because we deal with highly sensitive data and our older shredders were outdated and undependable.

The decision to buy the GoECOlife shredder had a good bit to do with the fact that it is eco friendly. I don't think there are any other models currently on the market offering green technology comparable to this unit. This machine would probably not be what a large office would want, especially one that has almost continuous duty, but it works well for a small or mid sized business.

This shredder has an energy savings mode to prevent power consumption when it is not in use. If a malfunction occurs with the shredder, a blinking light indicates for you to push a button and hear what the problem is. For instance, if someone opens the door to the bin in the middle of shredding, the machine shuts down for safety. Push the button and a female voice tells you why the machine stopped.

This powerful shredder gets the job done. It shreds 12 sheets of paper, staples, and CDs. There's a special slot for the CDs. The machine is very quiet during operation, too.

We were pleasantly surprised when we unboxed the units because there was no Styrofoam or plastic inside. Everything was biodegradable. According to the documentation, no hazardous substances are in any way part of this machine. It also meets the Carbon Free Product Certification Program.

We use these shredders every day, and the crosscut design leaves all the shredded paper in pieces so small that no one could reassemble the sheets. A shredder is for one purpose only, and this one accomplishes its task very well.
