When my family and I decided to take up camping again a few years ago, we were faced with a dilemma. Our two-man pup tent was no longer large enough for our camping needs, and while we could shuck the pup tent off on the kids, my wife and I needed to buy a new tent. In our search for the perfect tent we went through several models and brands, all of which were decent tents in their own right, but none of which lived up to our expectations. We finally found the perfect fit in the four person King Pine Dome Tent by LLBean.

While it is not fancy and does not have all the bells and whistles and specialized gadgets to aid with the erecting of, collapsing of and packing up of the tent that many other brands use as their claim to fame, the LLBean King Pine Dome Tent is perfect for our needs.

Not only is the King Pine Dome have a peak height of six feet (meaning that even I can stand up inside the tent) but the tent area covers 62 square feet, making it a very roomy space, even when the kids get scared by the thunder storm and decide to join us for the night. In addition to the tent space, the King Pine Dome has an additional 39 square feet of living space in an attached screened room made of Micro Mesh where you can kick back and relax without having to worry about getting eaten up by even the smallest of flying bugs. Even the screened room keeps dry with fold-down waterproof panels that zip closed over the screens, and all the seams are taped,so that even in the worst of rainy conditions, it stays dry inside.

At 27 pounds and 13oz., this is not a tent recommended for those who are into hiking, for the weight would take up a good portion of one person's weight load. No, this is a tent for family camping at parks and recreational areas or to use on short hikes. In fact, for the active family that likes to get away for a weekend, this may be just the tent they are looking for.
