2006 Chrysler Pacifica

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

The 2006 Chrysler Pacifica is a sharp looking car, especially with the sunroof option. Purchase price was close to $30,000, making it one of the more expensive SUV-type vehicles. The Pacifica has been referred to as a sports tourer because it combines components of a sports utility with those of a minivan. It is a six-passenger vehicle, however the far back seat is not comfortable for teens or adults due to the small space for leg room. The leg room for the front and middle passengers is spacious.

The Pacifica provides a smooth ride. The heated seats are very comfortable and come with arm rests. Both the middle and the far back seats can be folded down to provide cargo space. With a push of a button on the key or above the rearview mirror, the back of the car automatically opens and closes. The car has to be in park for the back to be released, which is a nice safety feature. The seats easily fold up and down, unlike seats in other similar vehicles. An interesting negative feature is the height of the windows. They are positioned higher than in most other cars. Thus, when you use the ATM machine or go through a drive-through it's very awkward. You might have to open your car door, rather than trying to do business through the window area.

The ignition is in the dashboard, rather than in the steering column, which makes it convenient. One drawback to the dashboard is the knob to switch from miles to kilometers--it can easily be pushed without realizing it. The Pacifica is all-wheel drive. It handles winter weather and heavy rains very well. It seems as though the tires wear out faster, and when one tire needs to be replaced, they all need to be replaced.

Overall, the Pacifica is a decent car. It's a very comfortable car to travel in for long trips. However, given some of its quirks, such as the high windows, I'll purchase a different Chrysler product next time.
