I was tired of my old giant fridge sticking out in the kitchen, so we replaced it with a new Kenmore, which is counter-depth. I had few other requirements, like ice maker and stainless-steel look, and this Kenmore fit the bill.
I must admit that it looks great, almost like it was built-in. Of course, the price for the counter depth is that there is now about 5 inches less space in the fridge. But, the two door design allows for a lot of bins, so the organization is not a problem. It also has the Ultra Chill Zone, which brings cold air from the freezer to keep things like milk at a cooler temperature than the rest of the fresh food, which I like a lot.
The fridge is Energy Star qualified appliance, what, as I understand, means it is going to cost only $48 per year to run.
This beautiful, quiet fridge has many nice features that I like. The water filter is certainly one of them, so now we not only get cold water, but it is filtered as well. I love the tilt-out fruit bin, and the fact that the inside is so very well lit. I think that exterior electronic controls for the temperature adjustments make a lot of sense, since there is not need to open the refrigerator door and let the cold air out. I also like the Microban® Antimicrobial Protection, located in the crisper drawer & Fresh-n-Ready(TM) Bin, which not only kills bacteria but odors as well.
There are few things I do not like. For example, the ice maker is loud when it starts, and it is not very large, what is no surprise considering that it is built in the door. Also, the refrigerator door has to swing all the way in order to pull the drawers out. That makes it difficult to place it in small kitchens.
We paid $1900 for it two years ago, and so far could not be happier. I read about some of the problems other customers had with the ice maker, and I hope we will avoid those. For us, this is almost perfect fridge.
