I am a beginner when it comes to sewing things. I began learning to sew on my Mother's newer Singer sewing machine as she guided me. Now that I know the basics of machine sewing it was time to purchase my own machine. I compared the Singer to the Brother sewing machines. I looked at both brand features and what they claimed they could do. Although the Brother was cheaper, and I love to save money, I chose the Singer Simple Sewing machine instead. The automatic needle threading was to determining factor in my decision process.
I have used this machine a little bit since I have gotten it and I was able to make a buttonhole for my husband's pants using the automatic buttonhole feature. The first time I attempted to make one, I read the instructions carefully and followed each step until the hole was made. It really was quite easy using the instruction manual that comes with this machine.
I have played with several fabrics including velvet, organza, denim and cotton. I was testing the machine to see if it could handle the different fabrics especially denim since I will be making denim bags with this machine. It worked like a dream and I had no problems at all using it. While I was testing the strength of this machine I also tested each of the stitching settings. I enjoyed experimenting with my new machine. This machine does not weigh very much so I can tote it around by myself without any trouble at all. I have a tendency to move it from one room to another according to where I want to sit and sew that day.
So far I have really enjoyed using my first sewing machine and I am quite pleased with this Singer Sewing machine.
