Dyson DC-14

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

Dyson vacuum cleaners are a high end, wonderful vacuum which do not loose suction when they become full. The only downside to it, is when a large job approaches, users may not realize when they are full. The design quality is incredible. The DC-14 is both light weight and powerful. As far as it's ability to clean, it could be compared to a light duty shop-vac.

The DC-14 is made from a hard plastic, which contributes to the light weight. While plastic generally imparts a feeling of cheapness, the DC-14 feels strong, and is reliable for years with very little maintenance. The wand is part of the main handle, which helps to keep the design simple and effective. It also comes with several attachments for the wand for a wide variety of uses.

Probably the best part about the Dyson is it is not terribly heavy, or light. A lot of light vacuums feel as though they are made very poorly, with a low level of craftsmanship. The Dyson DC-14 sits in a comfortable middle ground.

One of the slight draw backs of the Dyson DC-14 is the routine maintenance. While it is not a huge deal, it is not the hands off vacuum that one might expect. Every month or so of consistent use, it is important to take a duster to the interior filter of the dust catch. If this is not done, the vacuum can loose suction over a period, basically because it gets clogged up.

All in all, the Dyson DC-14 is one of the best vacuum cleaners on the market, and almost certainly the best performing vacuum over the long haul on the open market. The Dyson performs very well with a small amount of maintenance, which is simple and quick.
