09 Chevrolet Aveo

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

The Chevy Aveo is a great commuter car, good leg room and moderately comfortable interior. The car feels a lot like it was designed to be a running around town kind of car. The interior is not likely to win any awards for anything. The design is highly functional with no real blind spots, which can be a flaw with small commuter cars. It comes standard with a cd player, and auxiliary port for MP3 players.

While that may not seem overly interesting to most people, for those who use the car in a fleet of quick delivery vehicles, it is a nice change from the usual AM/FM tuner. The seats are not terribly adjustable, but the leg room is good. The seats are firm, but not overly so. The air conditioning is surprisingly good, cooling the entire car off, even in 100 plus degree heat in around ten minutes.

Driving the Aveo is not as sluggish as it might appear. The car has enough pep to get it into traffic without causing an accident, unlike some other commuter cars which are dangerously low on torque. The handling is also pleasant. The Aveo is not likely to win any races, though it does not feel uncomfortable while cornering over the speed limit.

The car is actually designed by Daewoo, and because of that some of the commonly replaced parts can be hard to find. Things like the oil filter can be a bit tricky, even in larger cities, though not impossible to find. Over all the Aveo is a pleasant car for running errands, or delivering pizzas. The car is not, however, a good vehicle for road trips, or spending an entire day in. The interior is a bit too purpose built for an inexpensive commuter car to be more than what it is.
