Kenmore Elite 5478 with Ice Shaver
Rating: 1 out of 5
Our initial refrigerator came using the home, and had lasted over 20 years. When we made the decision to splurge and buy a brand new 1, we wanted bells and whistles. We looked in numerous shops, and ended at Sears with this new, thrilling item. I admit we had been swayed by the shaved ice function. That turned out to be like purchasing a brand new automobile for the radio.
Late within the day, on the extremely initial day we owned the refrigerator, it was discovered not to be cooling, and by morning was really warmer. Following returning to the retailer to talk about a replacement, the very best provide meant an approximate 36 hr period of living out of a picnic cooler, with no compensation for lost food or inconvenience. This was very upsetting.
Additionally to merely not cooling issues (which was supposed to be its primary objective), we saw the shaved ice was not the smooth snow-cone ice we had been sold on. The ice-maker also froze up, and wouldn't dispense at all. The repairman has been out a number of occasions, and we ended up buying the extended warranty simply because we see no finish in sight. Additionally, the water tasted poor following only a brief time, so he replaced the water filter (not component of the warranty,) charging us much more than the retailer would have, even though he was a Sears repairperson. Complaints went unresolved and unanswered.
The interior plastic isn't sturdy, along with a crack instantly appeared on the inside of the door. The trays on the inside slide out, but can go off-track. It occurs far too frequently and is really a bit of a discomfort to put them back into position everytime. All in all, following living with 1 refrigerator for 23 years, I anticipate to replace this 1 having a year or two.
