Kenmore Food Waste Disposer Model #60581

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

I have a large family or as my grandmother says 'you have mouths to feed.' Not much of the food I cook is wasted but, when I have to throw out egg shells, potato peels, pizza crusts or lemon rinds I want to get rid of it now.

We bought our Kenmore garbage disposal in 2008 and aside from the occasional chicken bone (which shouldn't have been thrown in there in the first place) it operates wonderfully. The time that sticks in my mind as impressive was when I asked the kids to clean the kitchen while I took a shower. One of the kids (I can't seem to get the truth out of anybody) left the disposal on and it ran without water for over 5 minutes. I caught it in time so that it didn't do any damage but, I noticed 2 things about this machine. It was quite enough to go unnoticed when it was running and it didn't shut down, burn up or anything else I would have expected to do.

We let it cool down, ran some water into it and it was operating at 100% inside of 10 minutes. This machine has cut down the amount of trash I put out to the curb every week and I am very thankful for that.

I highly recommend a Kenmore food disposer, especially when we are trying to put less in area landfills.
