Craftsman 88957 Snow Blower

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

I was recently in the market for a moderate duty snow blower and decided on the Craftsman 88957 snow blower. The winters where I live can be pretty harsh and there can be snow fall of up to several inches at a time so having a quality snow blower makes my life easier. I purchased the Craftsman 88957 at a home improvement store for $599.00.

I have a fairly large lot around my house with both paved and unpaved surfaces. The driveway is slanted as are parts of the gravel drive. I needed a snow blower that could handle uneven and non-paved surfaces and the Craftsman has done a great job. It has a self-propelled engine which makes it easy to use and a 24 inch clearing width. Another great feature is that I can steer it with one hand and use the other hand to adjust the direction of the snow chute without having to stop the machine.

The winters can get very cold but my Craftsman has started right up every time. It comes with an electric starter switch. Since it is a relatively low price there are a few downsides to it. It does not come with a headlight so all snow removal has to be done in the day light. You can get a headlight for it but that costs extra. There is also no power steering so folks who have a lot of twists and turns should opt for a different model. All of the surfaces I remove snow from are in straight lines so the need for power steering is not there.

This is a great snow blower for moderate use at a good price. I would recommend it to anyone looking to remove snow on gravel, pavement, and uneven surfaces.
