YH LH Emerson Microwave Oven 1.1 Cu. Ft.

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

When we moved into our new home back in the summer of 2006, I was looking for a new microwave to match our new kitchen décor. We found the YH LH Emerson Microwave Oven in stainless steel at our local Wal-Mart for around $70. We don't use our microwave to do a lot of cooking but we do use it for reheating all of our leftovers and for heating up frozen meals. It is a 1000 watt unit with 1.1 cu. ft. of space, and a glass plate is included with the microwave. There are 10 power levels to choose from along with 8 preset settings for cooking foods such as vegetables, milk, popcorn, and potatoes.

It also has a defrost button and programmable memory buttons for settings that you use most. I really like the look of the microwave with the stainless steal handle and the black door. All of our kitchen appliances are in black and this matches the décor perfectly.

If a package we are heating up says that it will take 5 minutes to cook the product, I know that is how long it will take. With my old microwave it would take another half cycle to finish cooking the product thoroughly or would over cook the product. There have been many times that I would burn the popcorn or leave half the bag with kernels on the bottom. It does leave a lot of hand prints and is somewhat of a pain to clean, however if you do have a young child the microwave has a child safe lock on it so you won't have to worry about your little one getting hurt if you walk away from your microwave for a second. Overall I would give the YH LH Emerson Microwave Oven 1.1 cu. Ft. Model (MW8115SS) a 4 star rating out of 5 and recommend this microwave for those who may not use their microwave a lot.
