Black & Decker SmartBrew Plus 12-Cup Coffeemaker DCM2500
Rating: 3 out of 5
The Black and Decker SmartBrew 12 Cup Programmable Coffeemaker is another nice machine from a good time tested company. You can set it to brew when you want, and the digital display is easy to see and use. Set it and wake up to that wonderful smell of fresh coffee. As with other coffeemakers from Black and Decker, this one has the Sneak-a-cup feature that makes it simple to grab a cup mid-brew. It also has a two hour auto shut off. This makes sure it does not overheat and helps save on energy use as well.
The SmartBrew Plus also has a nice interface with its soft touch controls. It actually has a sleek feel in addition to being easy to program and run. Another quality feature is the design of the carafe itself, it is crafted to help keep coffee from dribbling while being poured out. The twelve cup reservoir is good for households with several coffee drinkers who need their java.
For its many positive attributes, this coffee maker has a couple of trouble spots. The basket area can get plugged up with grounds, causing it to overflow as it brews. Another problem area is that grounds can seep into the carafe when it gets to full if the carafe is not positioned properly. Be sure to push the carafe all the way and mind your water levels, and this coffee maker will work just fine.
It's a decent coffee maker at a fair price of around $30.00.
