Frigidaire Gallery Side-by-Side Frost-Free Refrigerator and Freezer, Model No. GLMV168KS3

Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Currently 3.0/5.0

This Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator and freezer model is a mixed value, with a superior refrigerator, but a problematic freezer. Overall, the model offers a large set of features, including: a Pure Source 2 filter water system, spill-safe shelving, a twin crisper, dairy storage, full-width door shelves, adjustable gallon door bins, a deli/meat keeper, and sliding freezer baskets.
The unit is compact, with a total of 22.6 cubic feet. Its dimensions include a height of 68 and 1/4 inches, a width of 32 and 5/8 inches, and a depth of 34 and 1/4 inches. The fresh food section has a capacity of 14.22 cubic feet, while the freezer offers 8.39 cubic feet.
The refrigerator's many features and relatively roomy interior space make it an enjoyable appliance to have. There is always plenty of room to store something and a wide assortment of storage options. Whether I am storing soft drink cans or eggs, I can always find the right niche. I particularly like the in-door water and ice dispenser. It's nice to be able to have a glass of filtered water literally at my fingertips, and the ice dispenser offers both crushed and cubed ice.
As much as I like the refrigerator, the freezer is another matter. My major compaint is about the interior ice-maker. The lid wil never stay on it correctly due to the overly large volume of ice, and removing ice in quantities is a messy proposition. I also have problems with the sliding freezer baskets staying on their tracks, and on more than one occasion have had a frozen package go flying onto the floor. The freezer space seems a bit stingy. Perhaps the manufacturer should consider stealing a few cubic feet of space from the refrigerator or else re-configuring the freezer's layout.
In the almost 7 years I have owned this appliance, it has not required a service call, so it does seem dependable. In conclusion, I am very pleased with the refrigerator compartment of this unit, but the freezer section is not quite up to par.
