Vitamix CIA Professional Countertop Blender with 2+ HP Motor, Platinum

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

I've had this Vitamix blender for two years. It was a gift from my husband just before the birth of our youngest daughter. For the last few years, we've been becoming more and more organic in our diets, particularly where the kids are concerned, and my husband knew I was very concerned about using organic baby foods for our newest child.

Unfortunately, organic baby food is costly and I've heard mixed reports about the various brands available and how organic and healthy they really are. I was thrilled when my husband brought this home, because I knew that if I was controlling what went into my baby food, I would have a much better feeling about what she was eating.

I had some doubts about the claims Vitamix was making about all of the features and how much better it was than many other machines, but I've found this to be fairly accurate advertising. I put all kinds of ingredients into this blender that I would never have put into my old one, such as raw carrots and apples and even spinach. The Vitamix makes a beautiful puree of pretty much anything I can think up to throw in there. It's wonderful for baby food.

I'm no longer making baby food in the Vitamix, unless I make some as a gift for a friend, but we've still used the machine almost daily. It makes terrific smoothies, great frozen drinks and coffees and even ice cream of sorts. If you throw in frozen fruit and half and half or cream, you get a delicious creamy dessert from it. I've also used it to make quite a few salads and dips, like spinach artichoke dip, and it does a great job.

The only reason I'm not giving the Vitamix a five rating is that it is very, very loud. You can't talk on the phone while you're using this machine! But, the Vitamix is so quick that it's really a minor inconvenience.
